Professor of Cognitive Science
Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences
Adjunct Professor of Informatics and Computing
Indiana University, Bloomington

Director, IU Cognitive Computing Laboratory

I am currently a professor at Indiana University. My research is generally in the areas of cognitive modeling, semantic memory, artificial intelligence, and data science. I completed my graduate work at Queen's University in Kingston (Canada) under the late Doug Mewhort, as well as certification in High-Performance Scientific Computing. I then moved on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in the Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder under Walter Kintsch and the late Tom Landauer. In 2006, I traded my sunny mountains for fields of corn, and relocated to Bloomington Indiana. For more information about my academic work, see my Lab Page or my Faculty Page.

I am married with two daughters, a gigantic dog, and a farm full of various animals. Besides skiing and volleyball, I am very competitive in boxing, Muay Thai, submission wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I tried golf once, but don't really get the concept.
